Let’s Be Clear
Every criminal justice data point represents a life. Let’s Be Clear provides a snapshot of the U.S. Criminal Justice system through eight episodic documentary vignettes–stories told in extreme closeup that offer a wide view of data’s essentiality in transforming the system. Told through unflinching first person narration, each story centers around a single character–a small town Sheriff, a victim of sexual abuse behind bars, a rural public defender, a teenager without a lawyer, a first time drug offender sentenced to life without parole, a newly appointed judge, a defendant stripped of due process, an urban police commander. Each brings a unique vantage point from which to view and understand the complexities of the American justice system. Together, their testimony reveals the importance of accessible and actionable criminal justice data to enact meaningful reform.
